The Game
Baden Powell said Scouting is a game, but it’s a game with a purpose. The purpose is described above, the game is where the action is – the fun that makes the purpose palatable, interesting, memorable, and happening. Our game is high adventure – we are going to go places and do things that most boys only see in movies or dream about. By the time our boys are finishing high school, they will know the Olympic Mountains like the backs of their hands. They will be accomplished hikers, campers, fishermen, and outdoorsmen – they won’t get lost in the great outdoors – they will know how to get from here to there and back safely without a GPS. They will be skilled and safe handlers of a bow and arrow and a gun. They will know how to survive in the wilderness with little more than a knife and the clothes on their backs. They will be self-sufficient, healthy, active, informed, young men with good hearts, a great story to tell, and a future of their choosing. Our objective is to put each boy on a trail to Eagle and give them the tools and encouragement to reach that goal. If your boy just wants to play and hang out, this probably isn’t the troop for them. If you believe your son spends a little too much time in front of a computer, video game, or television screen - bring them to us. With your support and active involvement, we’ll provide growth, balance, challenges, and adventure, along with leadership and character development, all packaged up in a program that is a whole lot of fun – we guarantee you’ll get more access to your computer, and your son will be on an exhilarating course of exploration, high adventure, and personal growth.
